Unknown facts about Electronic Device
Do you know who discovered elecrticity?🧐(answer:? Or you can find it below)
While traveling different countries, you might have found people or you yourself carrying along an Adapter for your electronic device. Why we need that? Different countries have different shaped outlets, where your device plug doesn't fit in.so,yes in that scenario, An Adapter saves your day.
But, while traveling to different places, have you ever thought your device might blow away the fuse the place you are living in. Have you ever thought about the voltage or power supply there.
Different countries have different electrical systems and have variations in frequency of power supply.
For eg: Standard frequency in
US is 60 hertz (Hz)
Japan is 50 hertz(Hz)
India is 50 hertz
UK is 50(Hz)
Find out what's in your country?
(Frequency : is the number of times an electrical wave repeats a positive- to- negative cycle)
Mostly , the variation around the world are between:
1. 100-127 volt, at 60 hertz frequency
2. 220-240 volt, at 50 hertz frequency. With, few exceptions.
(Volt or voltage: is a electric potential difference between two points or you can say electro magnetic force which gives a push to charges to go from one point to other)
(Eg: At 100 volts of push/force, the electrical waves repeats 60 hertz of positive-to-negative cycles)
So, by this we can say, US and India are not in same synchronous area, that means to safely use a US electrical device in India , we need to convert the power supply. If not done, device won't work or even worse,it could break.
And a broken device like your phone or laptop etc. could leave you in a bit of pickle😕
Well, most of you must be thinking what is this all about, my phone or laptop never broke , while using at different places??
So the hidden fact to know here is -now a days most of the laptops, phones and stuffs are made as solid state i.e they've electronics fitted inside called as semiconductors that do all the automatic conversion for you, that ends up with a DC (direct current) supply into the machine itself.
In other words, there's a little converter in there which convert the AC (alternating current) input into DC. Hence, it doesn't care what frequency the AC input is.
Meaning, you can google on your solid state laptop and answer my que: who discovered electricity?
Answer is: BenjaminFranklin .(To show that lightning was electricity,Franklin attached a metal key to a kite and flew it during a thunderstorm. The key conducted electricity and gave him a shock!) Ah! Not an experiment I recommend trying at home!
But other small electronic devices, such as shaving machines, electronic toothbrushes, hair dryer and straightner etc .you may find trouble while charging them. They may charge either slowly or not at all or worse. You will need a Converter for them .
Let me tell you here, that An Adapter and a Converter are two different things.
Adapter just change the shape of outlet or socket, suitable for your device's plug. Converter changes frequency of power supply.
So you have to have both.
Other ,very important thing to notify here is , even though you have converter with you, it still blow out the fuse sometimes or break your device. Be careful while using it.
Ah! You must be thinking Adapter and converter , still leaving you in a bit of pickle, then ,is there any smart solution to this converter thing??
Yes! There Is!
Next time, whenever you buy your electric appliances, check for its dual voltage feature. Appliances with dual voltage features have something written like "100-240V, 50/60Hz". And they work anywhere in the world.
In other words, a dual voltage can accept both 110-120V and 220-240V.
Luckily, now a days many travel gadgets are dual voltage, but you should assure it while buying ,so you'll only need a plug adapter, also called travel adapter. Plug adapters are small, pretty cheap and easy to carry along.
I hope it comes out as a helpful information for you. That's all for now.
Remember Dual Voltage and Adapters are the savers!
Thank you for reading the post. I'll be back here soon with another interesting fact!
Hope you have a good day!🤗
